How Visible Is Your Business to AI? Find Out with Tracevia’s Free AI Visibility Check
For years, businesses have had tools to answer a relatively straightforward question:
How visible are we on Google?
You can check keyword rankings, search impressions, backlinks, organic traffic and dozens of other SEO metrics.
But customer discovery is changing.
Potential customers are increasingly asking AI-powered systems questions about products, services and suppliers. Instead of searching for a keyword and working through a page of results, someone might ask:
“What are the best Microsoft 365 monitoring platforms for MSPs?”
“Which cybersecurity companies specialise in small businesses?”
“What are the alternatives to Product X?”
“Which suppliers should I consider for this requirement?”
The important question for businesses is therefore becoming:
Can AI find, understand and accurately describe my company?
We have launched the Tracevia Free AI Visibility Check to give businesses a quick way to start answering that question.
Start with a free AI visibility check
The new Tracevia Free AI Visibility Check provides an initial assessment of how ready your website is for AI discovery and whether your company is being correctly recognised by Google's AI-powered search experience.
You only need to provide two things:
Your website domain and your company or brand name.
No account is required and no credit card is needed.
Tracevia then performs two different types of analysis and produces two scores out of 100:
AI Readiness and Citation Readiness.
More importantly, rather than simply giving you a score, the check identifies five prioritised improvements that can help you understand what to work on next.
What is AI Readiness?
Before an AI system can accurately describe or recommend your organisation, it needs to be able to discover and understand information about it.
That starts with your website.
The free check examines your homepage from the perspective of AI discovery, looking at areas including:
page metadata;
clarity of your content;
structured data;
robots.txt;
llms.txt;
your sitemap; and
other signals that help automated systems discover and interpret your website.
These individual elements don't guarantee that an AI assistant will recommend your business.
An llms.txt file, for example, isn't a magic switch for AI visibility. Structured data doesn't automatically make ChatGPT recommend you either.
Instead, these signals collectively help answer a more fundamental question:
How easy are we making it for machines to discover and understand authoritative information about our business?
That forms the basis of the AI Readiness score.
What is Citation Readiness?
Being technically accessible is only part of the problem.
AI also needs to understand who you are.
This is where things can become surprisingly complicated.
Your website might clearly describe your company, while an AI-powered search system associates your brand with another organisation. It might understand your company but misunderstand what you sell. Or it might describe you accurately while relying entirely on third-party sources rather than information you control.
The free check therefore asks Google's AI Overview about your company by name.
It looks at whether your company is recognised, whether it is described accurately and whether sources associated with your organisation are being cited.
This contributes to your Citation Readiness score.
Why do these two scores matter?
Imagine two companies.
Company A has an excellent website. Its technical structure is strong, its content is clear and its important information is easily accessible to automated systems.
But when AI is asked about the company, it struggles to identify it correctly.
Company B is well recognised by AI systems and frequently appears in external sources, but its own website makes it unnecessarily difficult for machines to determine exactly what products it provides and which markets it serves.
Both companies have an AI visibility problem.
But they don't have the same problem.
Simply being told that your "AI visibility is 55%" doesn't necessarily tell you what needs to change.
Separating readiness and recognition provides a more useful starting point.
From a score to something you can actually improve
A score is interesting.
An action is useful.
That is why the Free AI Visibility Check doesn't stop after calculating the two scores.
It identifies five prioritised improvements based on what it discovers.
These might highlight problems with entity clarity, metadata, structured content, AI access or other signals that can make it more difficult for AI-powered systems to understand your organisation.
The objective isn't to produce a 50-page technical audit containing hundreds of warnings.
It is to answer:
What are the most useful things I should investigate first?
The free check is a starting point, not the whole picture
There is an important distinction between AI readiness and AI visibility.
The free check helps establish whether your digital presence provides some of the foundations required for AI discovery and whether Google's AI-powered search experience recognises your organisation correctly.
But that doesn't tell you everything about how your company performs when potential customers start asking AI assistants real buying questions.
Suppose your company sells project management software.
Knowing that Google correctly understands who you are is useful.
But commercially, you might be much more interested in questions such as:
“What project management software is best for a 50-person professional services company?”
“Which project management platforms integrate with Microsoft 365?”
“What are the best alternatives to [competitor]?”
“Which project management tools are suitable for an MSP?”
Those are discovery questions.
And they introduce a much bigger issue.
Different AI engines can produce different answers
There isn't a single universal AI search engine.
ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI-powered search experiences can discover, interpret and present information differently.
Your company might be well understood by one platform but barely visible on another.
You might be frequently mentioned when someone asks a broad question about your market, but disappear when the question becomes more specific.
A competitor might be recommended repeatedly for a capability that your product also provides.
Or AI might know your company exists but have an outdated understanding of what you actually do.
This is where a simple one-off check develops into continuous AI visibility measurement.
From free check to full AI visibility benchmarking
The Free AI Visibility Check is designed to give you a quick baseline.
The full Tracevia benchmark goes considerably further.
Rather than only examining technical readiness and direct brand recognition, Tracevia tests your visibility using real buyer-style questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google.
It examines how your organisation appears across those different AI experiences, scores the responses and identifies gaps that can be turned into an improvement plan.
This moves the question from:
“Can AI understand our website?”
to:
“When potential customers ask AI about the problems we solve, are we actually part of the answer?”
That is the distinction between being technically ready for AI discovery and measuring real AI visibility.
Measure → Understand → Improve → Measure Again

AI visibility isn't something businesses can optimise once and forget.
AI models change. Search and retrieval systems change. Your competitors change their websites and content. New third-party sources appear. Your own products and positioning evolve.
The answers generated by AI can change with them.
That is why we see AI visibility as a continuous process:
Measure → Understand → Improve → Measure Again.
The first step is establishing where you are today.
And that is exactly what the new free check is designed to help you do.
How visible are you to AI?
You don't need to create an account, enter payment details or configure a monitoring project to find out.
Enter your company name and website domain and Tracevia will analyse your AI readiness, check how Google's AI-powered search experience understands your organisation, provide your two scores and identify five priorities for improvement.
It takes around a minute to get started.
